Something Navy for Winter

The Winter coat is as important as owning a toothbrush to me. I need to have a selection of Winter coats to get me through the long…..long….Winter in Ireland. 

All that matters is the subject of THE Winter coat. One can’t just have one coat though…..

This blog post is all about the Navy Coat.

Each year, I search for the perfect black coat. Sometimes it is difficult to find, so I opt for whichever coat grabs my attention.

This year I stumbled across a navy coat which I had been searching for quite a while. It is a straight cut trench coat from French Connection made from wool and cashmere. Although it isn't black …it still fulfils that requirement and it is a dark navy so I can wear this with black items.

A friend asked me why I had so many coats, and then quickly answered before I could saying "It's because you need a coat 12 months of the year, isn't it?" to which I replied "Yes, that and I am obsessed with coats and can't stop buying them!"

The great thing is, if you buy a coat in a style you love that suits you, you will have it for years.

Dear Winter Coat,

You mean so much to me. You really do.  As soon as Burberry hits the catwalk with a new Fall-Winter collection I know there is going to be at least one impeccably wonderful coat which I long to add to my wardrobe.  You usually appear at the end of summer when it is still quite humid outside. Just like a handsome man is snapped up faster than you can say “where is my credit card” one needs to act fast. To own a simply beautiful coat, you need to be thinking on your feet, ready to take action at the right time. Timing is everything.

Once I find you, it is important to take it slowly so I don’t wear you out. Even though I know it is love at first sight, I can’t let that show too much. If I wear you at every occasion possible, you won’t seem so unique and the intrigue might die. But slowly, through time, I will wear you everyday. Even when the sun shines and it is too warm for a coat, you will be there.

Oh winter coat, you are special and you should know, you are the key part of any wardrobe.
